*We've asked a recent team member from the Celebration AG church in Iowa to share her thoughts about her trip this past August. Here's what she had to say:
Time went too fast while in Haiti, and that definitely wasn’t how my mind was prepared. I never would’ve guessed how great and impactful God had planned for Haiti to be - and how I never wanted to leave! I fell in love and left pieces of my heart in Haiti without a doubt.
Haiti was an eye opening, mind adjusting, and heart tugging experience. As I sit back and recap, I’m overwhelmed. God taught me so much in such a short time. Looking past the filth to see the beautiful souls they all possess and how each of them are yearning to see more of Jesus. The Haitians showed me the beauty of simplicity, and the irrelevance of materialistic things. To live with a thankful heart, even in the midst of turmoil, that is who they are. What an honor it was to walk door to door and pray for their hurts, visit the sweet faces at a local orphanage, and get to know several haitian families. We even had the privilege of playing on the soccer fields with some rowdy children, building a home for a family in need, and feeding a hungry community during an outreach…and so much more; showering as much love and showing as much Jesus as we could.
Konbit is all about that, and I couldn’t have asked for a better family organization to host and lead my church and I. Konbit was nothing but welcoming, helpful, and beyond caring for our team. They gave us such great examples and opportunities to see the true core and essence of Haiti. I would highly recommend joining in partnership with their organization which is devoted to sharing Jesus and caring for the needs of Haitians. You wouldn’t regret it, I know I didn’t - I’m even praying to go back in the near future!
